It’s hard to believe that just over a month ago a presidential spokesman said “This is not the time” to talk about federal action on guns.

But because of the hundreds of thousands of people who signed petitions, made phone calls and marched in the streets, the president this week made a game-changing announcement on guns.

If enacted, the bold agenda he unveiled — which was proposed by Vice President Joe Biden’s task force — would be a significant victory for advocates of stronger gun laws.

Thank President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for standing up to the NRA and proposing a bold agenda to address gun violence in the United States.
