President’s Point on Immigration Worth Pondering

I’ve never quite understood the complaints about undocumented workers taking jobs away from Americans. In order for this to be an issue, there must be a number of US employers hiring illegal immigrants. What are there sanctions? They’re certainly getting far less expensive labor; one could say they’re capitalizing on the situation. So how about we focus on the companies hiring illegal workers and fine them in order to make up for any perceived economic loss for US workers?
That darns two sides to every story……

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — President Barack Obama on Saturday stressed immigration reform will help create jobs and grow the economy by attracting skilled workers.
The recently introduced immigration reform bill will strengthen security at the border with Mexico and hold employers more accountable for hiring undocumented workers, Obama said in a his weekly Internet and radio speech.
“It would provide a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million individuals who are already in this country illegally,” he said.
The immigration bill will also increase visas for skilled workers which is expected to be a boon to high-tech companies in hiring needed manpower from overseas.
“So there’s no reason that immigration reform can’t become a reality this year,” he said.
