Kudos for Silver: His Ruling Should be Universal Law
2April 29, 2014 by Jan Stone
Donald Sterling, an owner of the Clippers, confirmed his voice on a racist tape heard all over the world this weekend. If anyone has any doubt that our country still isn’t run by old white men in suits, you’re living in an alternative universe.
Silver’s, head of the NBA commission, banned Sterling for life from anything NBA and is trying to get the owners to make him sell his part of the Clippers. Who knows what a bunch of other billionaire boys will decide, but kudos for Silver. His list of penalties should be the same for businesses, building owners, and everyone in this country.
If you’re a racist, you should suffer consequences. How can any one judge another by the color of their skin? Particularly African-Americans and Native Americans. Their anger is justifiably fueled by white caucasian arrogance. It’s history. Read about the Middle Passage. Or watch the move, for heaven’s sakes. And do you really think Native Americans just gave up their land and their homes to those who discovered America?
The content of character, NOT the color of your skin. Are you a morally clean and shiny white man or woman? It’s hard, but I hope you try every day. And I hope you’re not judging others by the color of their skin. Good for you Silver.
Great piece on a highly controversial issue! I loved reading your piece. I would love to hear your thoughts on my Donald Sterling Analysis called Clipping the Fat! You can find it here,

Thanks for allowing me to read your piece, and keep it up!

Great piece, too! Frighteningly similar in our ultimate point. You, took, keep up the good fight. You’d think this one wouldn’t have to exist in 2014. So sad.
