Polls show Republicans have an 18 point advantage on foreign policy. How can that be? Have Americans forgotten that Republicans took us into Iraq and created the unstable environment that allowed ISIS to form? Have Americans forgotten that the agreement to remove all troops from Iraq was signed by President George W Bush? Have Americans forgotten that President Obama tried to get an agreement in place to keep some American troops in Iraq, but that Iraq insisted any US troops be subject to Iraqi law? Have Americans forgotten that we spent almost nine years fighting in Iraq, lost thousands of American soldiers, had tens of thousands more wounded – many permanently disabled? Have Americans forgotten that we ballooned the national debt through two wars that were “paid for” with tax cuts?

Have Americans forgotten that Republicans initially wanted the US to support the rebels that were fighting the Assad regime in Syria? Does anyone remember John McCain meeting with ISIS and saying we needed to support them?

I’ll take the move slowly and think it through approach any day over the move fast and start a war approach favored by the Republicans. Having a knee jerk reaction is NOT a show of strength. It is a sign of stupidity. We did it in Iraq once. Let’s not do it again!
