Conservatives and Science/Facts

Conservative darling Bobby Jindal recently spoke up on Ebola and gave us his idea of how to prevent the spread of Ebola in the US. It’s really quite simple according to Jindal. Just stop the flights to the US from the African nations where the outbreak is occurring.

Perhaps Mr Jindal is not aware of how Ebola spreads or where the risks are. And perhaps Mr Jindal is so busy touting American exceptionalism and superiority (and ignoring reality) that he hasn’t paid any attention to the facts of the Dallas Ebola patient’s route to the US. Because he came in from Brussels, Belgium!

In today’s travel environment, people are traveling all over the world and connecting through cities that one might think are safe from Ebola if you live under a rock like Mr Jindal.

So maybe instead of preventing flights from west Africa, we should focus on prevention, screening, and treatment. And I don’t know. Maybe we should also work on getting a Surgeon General in place!
