They’re All The Same! It Doesn’t Matter if I Vote or Who I Vote For??? Part 21
October 6, 2014 by Chris Kite
You might be feeling a little down about the state of politics in the US. The gridlock, political bickering, and overbearing control corporations and the rich have on this country are probably rightfully causing frustration and perhaps despair. But before you decide voting just doesn’t matter, please consider these facts that I’ll present in a series over the coming days:
Our Children’s Education – Democrat versus Republican
The Republican take on education is one that widens the gap between the quality of US education and that of other developed countries. Republicans want to help privatize (and even turn it into a for profit industry in some cases) our children’s education. Republicans typically fight education funding. They fight teaching of science over religious ideology. Evolution is real. If our children are going to compete with those from other countries, they better have a solid background in science. Denying science isn’t going to help! Republicans want to change American history. They want to leave out the mistakes our nation has made with some of darker periods.
Slavery? Well it wasn’t so bad!
Japanese internments during WWII? It was the patriotic thing to do!
Civil rights violations? So what?
The abuse of Native Americans and their rights? Hey! It was our God given right!
If we want our future generations to compete in the world, improve the world, and be able to peacefully lead our world, it is important they understand some of the horrible mistakes we’ve made as a nation. We are far from perfect but have learned from our past and improved our future. If we want to continue to improve, we have to continue to recognize where we went wrong! Your vote matters!
What a terrific post! If only…people would be willing to listen rather than watch a mouth move before responding. If only people looked at the many sides of an issue. If only everyone were required to read this blog 🙂 Great job SkokieLib. You’re nailing all the issues with the facts and reality. We can only hope someone will listen.
