Another “Legal” Gun Becomes an Illegal Gun!

Gun rights nuts love to tell us that what we need to make communities safer is to make gun’s more prevalent in our society (because as we all know, 209 million guns as of 2009 wasn’t nearly enough!). Gun rights nuts have this Charles Bronson fantasy world in which they live. They carry around their gun and use it to prevent crimes and to prevent themselves and others.

And then we have the reality of what more guns in society means. This story isn’t really all that surprising. After all, we all know that criminals have to be getting their guns somewhere. There isn’t this magical “illegal” factory building guns that get shipped directly to criminals. They all start out as “legal” guns but through carelessness, weak laws, weak law enforcement, and efforts by the NRA to make it as hard as possible to trace weapons back to their source, the criminals continue to build their arsenal.

Someone prominent once told us the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun was a good guy with a gun. So how did that work out for you?
