To Regard Brian Williams with Contempt, You Must Also View Ronald Reagan with Contempt

Many are hopping mad about NBC News anchor Brian Williams telling a story about taking fire over Iraq. Those on the right are particularly upset and vocal. He was wrong to do so, there is no doubt. But I suspect many have been in a situation where they start to tell a story and somehow, for some reason, distort the facts to make it more interesting and more captivating.
Now as a network News Anchor, this should not be something someone is prone to do. But let’s keep in mind that he did it while entertaining, NOT while broadcasting the news. If you think of him as a liar and untruthful, that is certainly not unreasonable. But don’t be a hypocrite! If you’re of the political persuasion that holds Ronald Reagan in high regard, keep in mind that the all great Ronald Reagan, the man so many on the right view as a great president that helped positively shape this nation, spun the same kind of stories. So to regard Brian Williams as a liar, you must also regard Ronald Reagan as a liar. Which again, is not at all unreasonable!

Awesome post! Thoughtful and, in my mind, on target. You’d hope there’s room in the middle for like minds to meet. But it doesn’t seem like the GOP has any interest in working together. Their way or the highway.
