Our Own ISIS Like Brutality Is Not That Long Ago

February 6, 2015 by Chris Kite

This story makes me realize that as horrible as ISIS is, we have a past that is not so different. In the US, it was race based, more than religious based. Although religion was often used to justify and rationalize it.

It was horrific and barbaric. And it makes me wonder who we are to judge.

Don’t get me wrong. ISIS is most certainly evil. And they follow barbaric practices. We should do what we can to stop them. But before we become self righteous in our condemnation, we should examine our own history and admit that not all that long ago, we too were a society willing to accept evil and barbaric acts.
