The Texas parent that complained about a book about poverty undermining American values was wrong about the book, but right about American values being undermined. Somehow, this nation and it’s history of welcoming immigrants and providing for the general welfare of the people HAS been undermined. It has been undermined by a right wing religious/free market agenda that is attempting to turn this nation into a Christian Theocracy with a generous helping of obscene profits for the rich while screwing everyone else.

It has really become a LIFELONG Undermining of American Values thanks to the twisted right and the power of the rich. We now have the rich running the country for themselves.
