Republicans in Oklahoma have decided to just ban history they don’t like. Republicans in Oklahoma have approved a bill that would cut off funding of US AP History because they don’t like what it teaches.

They don’t seem to understand American history and they don’t seem to understand that not teaching it doesn’t actually make it go away. In fact, teaching about our mistakes in the past is the best way to prevent similar events from happening again. Perhaps if Republicans understood science and history as it actually occurred, they might not be on the wrong side of the legalization of gay marriage.

But it just isn’t meant to be. Republicans don’t like the truth. Mostly because if the truth were well known, the only people that would support Republicans would be bigots and the rich.
