There are quite a few common misconceptions about the Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA, or “Obamacare”). These misconceptions illustrate just how successful the right has been at selling lies. This has been a long used tactic of the right. It labels policies it doesn’t agree with and tries hard to scare Americans into favoring its positions. It isn’t important to the right if there are any facts supporting the argument. They just keep repeating the lies until they become “fact.”
Five of the more common misconceptions are refuted with the following FACTS:
1 – Healthcare insurance premiums have risen at a slower rate than in recent history.
2 – Businesses are generally not cutting worker hours to avoid having to provide insurance. There are some isolated cases, but it is not widespread.
3 – CBO estimates are that the ACA is costing the Federal government LESS than originally expected.
4 – Undocumented Immigrants do NOT qualify for coverage.
5 – Enrollment numbers are meeting targets.
