There is little doubt that many members of the Congress and Senate are racists. Most of them make some effort to hide it and use dog whistles like “states’ rights” or “welfare queens” when promoting racism. It doesn’t make them better people, but it at least tries to pretend that racism isn’t acceptable to them.

But apparently Ted Cruz is proud of being a racist and also proud of the most racist Senator in modern times, Jesse Helms.

I find it horrifying, but not really terribly surprising.
