Marco Rubio Notifying Donors First is Telling

April 14, 2015 by Chris Kite

Marco Rubio announced to his donors today that he was running for President in 2016. Forget about any other message. The fact that he announced to donors first tells you what is wrong with the American political system.

Why did he announce to donors first? Because in 2016 GOP Presidential politics the candidate is essentially owned by the special interests that back them. That is who they answer to, NOT the American people. There is a significant amount of that in the Democratic political scene, too. But it is not quite as absolute or clear cut as it is on the Republican side.

Step right up corporate sponsors! Get your bids in early to potentially own the next President of the United States. According to our conservative led Supreme Court, corporations are people and money is free speech. Welcome to the Corporatocracy.

You can bet that in a Marco Rubio Presidency, the NRA, Big Oil, Big Banks, the Uber rich, and other business interests will come before the average citizen.

Abraham Lincoln said, “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.” Sadly, it has appeared that at least in the United States of America, it HAS perished.
