Reports say that Robert Bates, the “Reserve Deputy” that shot and killed the unarmed man in Oklahoma may not have completed the training that the Sheriff claims he did. Several people were reportedly transferred for refusing to falsify Bates’ training records and the agency now “cannot find” the records that prove he was trained.

If this proves to be true, I hope they also hold the Sheriff responsible for this needless death. Being a police officer is serious business. It requires the right personality and significant training. This sure appears to be a case of someone that “paid to play.”
