Ah Yes, Blame Obama for the Riots in Baltimore

May 10, 2015 by Chris Kite

Steve King (R-IA) is never short of crazy ideas. His latest is that the riots in Baltimore should be blamed on Obama because “he drives a wedge between us.” By driving a wedge between us, I think what Steve King is saying is that Obama doesn’t agree with him that racism isn’t a problem in the US and that police officers should be above the law (for the record, I believe that police officers are people and there are good and bad police officers).

So does that mean that when people in the LA area rioted over the beating of Rodney King and the acquittal of the police officers that beat him that we should blame George HW Bush.

Were the riots in Lexington, started by students and fans upset that the Wildcats lost to Wisconsin also to be blamed on Obama?

Who should be blamed for the riots? I don’t know. Maybe the trouble makers that started them.

I’ll simply blame Steve King for being an idiot!

Well it’s not that people think that Obama is literally starting riots, it’s that he obviously does nothing to stop them. After Ferguson, his speeches agreed with the violence being done to the community, leading people to believe that the president is on their side as they burn down businesses and police cars. Furthermore, he lets flaming racists who absolutely DO cause violence, like Al Sharpton, into the White House to advise him. Law abiding citizens just find it untrustworthy.

Perhaps you should consider changing your sources of news! President Obama did NOT agree with the violence.

“There is never an excuse for violence against police or for those who would use this tragedy as a cover for vandalism or looting.” August 14th as quoted in a transcript in the Washington Post. That seems about as clear as possible that he does not AGREE with the violence as you state. He made other comments, too. That are easily found if you are really interested in finding them. Of course the right wing talking heads all came out and said he should speak out against the riots, making it sound like he didn’t.

By your comments that “law abiding citizens just find it untrustworthy,” is that to say the fact that I don’t find anything untrustworthy about it means that I’m somehow not law abiding?

Al Sharpton consistently and loudly calls out racial inequality and injustice in the U.S. That isn’t racism. That’s standing up to rampant and ongoing injustice. Does he rub some people the wrong way? For sure.

The people that were rioting and looting weren’t protesters and did not have ANYONE’s support. They were committing crimes and violating the law and were simply taking advantage of the situation. Not at all unlike the rioters in the pictures attached below.
