Which One Is Really A Bigger Threat?

Republicans refuse to admit climate change is real. They refuse to act. This is largely because the Republican party is anti-science in general (climate change, evolution, pollution, economics, and on and on) but the fact that oil companies are a major sponsor of Republicans makes them unwilling to defy their corporate puppet masters.
They’ve done nothing. In fact they’ve done worse than nothing. It’s too expensive they say. Climate change isn’t real. Leave climate science to the scientists (which 97% of agree is real is man-made). It isn’t settled science.
Meanwhile, they blindly spend $40B a year on The Department of Homeland Security. They argue that is money well spent. It keeps us safe. Safe from those ISIS terrorists in Mexico. Safe from Al Qaeda. Safe from terrorism. These are all largely non-threats.
Sure. There are terrorists in the world. But they pose little threat to the US. Certainly less threat than climate change. Certainly less threat than guns. Certainly less threat than smoking. Or obesity.
We are making a huge and costly mistake. We are risking the future of our children and grandchildren. All in the name of dirty energy profits.
And given the way the Republicans master spin, it is likely that in 50 or 100 years, assuming our republic still exists, will blame Obama and “liberals” for not doing anything about this problem.
