There was another theater shooting in the United States today. That would be big news in any other developed nation. But in the US, it is simply Wednesday. Because we’ve come to the point where any kind of shootings just aren’t news. They aren’t rare. They aren’t unexpected. We just live with them.
Why isn’t a big deal? Because as of Sunday, August 2, 2015, there had already been 217 mass shootings in the United States of America. For those of you wondering, that is 217 mass shootings in 213 days.
Fortunately, we don’t have a gun problem in the United States! We may have more than 300 million guns and ridiculously loose gun laws in many parts of the country. But we don’t have a gun problem.
