First Republican Debate was Ugly, Horrifying, and Gruesome

1

August 7, 2015 by Chris Kite

I watched most of the first Republican debate last night. It was like watching a slow motion plane crash. It was ugly, horrifying, and gruesome. And yet, I could not turn away. It seemed unreal and I kept hoping it wasn’t happening.

John Kasich and Jeb Bush were the only two candidates that appeared at all Presidential to me. Trump continues to be a caricature of himself.

There were so many outright lies, half truths, and deceptive inaccuracies that it seems impossible to believe that they aren’t all just laughing at how stupid the U.S. voting public is to believe them.

As would be expected, most of the candidates seemed locked in a contest to prove who was the most right wing extremist of them. They all won! They appeared out of touch and extremist to the core. Let women die instead of having an abortion. More soldiers, more weapons, more defense spending. More war! Less taxes. More Spying on U.S. citizens (except Rand Paul, he gets a few points on that). Less health care for the average American.

Ted Cruz wowed the far right and drew cheers by saying, “If I am elected president, let me tell you about my first day in office. The first thing I intend to do is to rescind every illegal and unconstitutional executive action taken by Barack Obama.”

Interesting. The courts have not found them to be illegal and unconstitutional. But I guess he doesn’t believe in the Constitutional powers of the judicial branch to determine the legality of laws and orders. So isn’t that in itself unconstitutional? Interesting indeed!

Should one of these candidates win, I fear for our future. Well, actually, I fear for our future anyway based on our government being run by lobbyists and corporations. But it is pretty obvious these guys will hasten our demise!

It was so absurd I could not listen past the first 30 minutes. Anyone who gives Trump a platform deserves what they get with him — he was just at the border patrol and he knows the Mexican government is smarter, sending us the criminals. Really? Rubio–does everyone believe what comes out of his mouth? They are a frightening bunch unless they’re cast as a bunch of lunatics in an off-Broadway play. And yeah, you’re right, let a woman die instead of allow an abortion because don’t you know science PROVES through DNA an embryo is a live person at conception…..what?! What about scientific proof regarding climate change? These boys don’t want to talk about it so they won’t. Spoiled, entitled brats and yes so are you Scott Walker.
