A Big Success You Don’t Hear About (From an Organization Ted Cruz Wants to Eliminate)

You may not have heard about the success the Obama Administration has had in dramatically reducing veteran homelessness. The problem is still very real and we have a long way to go. But we’re moving in the right direction. The Obama Administration’s policies have succeeding in getting 50% of homeless vets off the streets and into housing over the past four years. THAT is what you call a successful government program. THAT is proof that government is always the problem and is sometimes the solution.
Of course if Ted Cruz manages to become our next President and gets his way, that progress will likely be reversed. That is because Ted Cruz wants to eliminated The Department of Housing and Urban Development. Other GOP Candidates want to eliminate departments, too, but haven’t specifically mentioned HUD yet.
The linked article describes how HUD tackled veteran homelessness. It offers some imaginative thinking and a different approach that is seeing real success. It is exactly the type of thing today’s batch of 2016 GOP Presidential wannabes has no interest in pursuing.
