More Successful Diplomacy In Action

Jeb Bush and other Republicans immediately jumped on the seizure of ten US soldiers that drifted into Iranian waters when they suffered an equipment failure. It was the result of Obama’s weak leadership. Now imagine, if you will, what the US would do if an Iranian military vessel drifted into US waters. I would imagine we would do something quite similar. Quite possibly, we would take similar action if it were Russian or Chinese vessels!

Never missing an effort for chest thumping and saber rattling, the right wanted some kind of immediate action. I guess maybe a quick cruise missile or two. Possibly a quick invasion of Iran?

Instead, the Obama administration opted to give diplomacy a chance. The result? The ten soldiers were released the next day. Neither country thought it was a good idea to escalate the issue. This is what happens when you build diplomatic relationships instead of saber rattling.

I imagine Republicans are quite disappointed they didn’t have the opportunity to get Iran to hold them until, say just after the Presidential election.
