Only in the world of insane right wing radical tea party nuts is completely ignoring Constitutional duties “defending the Constitution.”
Ken Cuccinelli of the Senate Conservatives Fund said, “If Republican senators can’t fulfill the basic task of defending the Constitution, they should be defeated at the ballot box.” He was referring to Senate Leader Mitch McConnell’s pledge to not do their job and meet with, hold hearings on, or vote up or down on any Supreme Court Justice nomination by President Obama.
So once again, these right wing extremists are seeing things in the Constitution that simply aren’t there. Because these radicals now believe that Supreme Court Justices should never be nominated and voted on in a Presidential election year.
Yep. Good ole “strict Constitutionalists” just making stuff up about the Constitution as they go so that it fits their radical view of the U.S.
Of course, if there were a Republican President right now, their view of the Constitution would be much more traditional. These tea party nuts love tradition, too. Except when it isn’t in their favor. Because there has never been a nominee that was just ignored. There have been some voted down. Some withdrawn because of the controversy of the candidate and the feeling they would lose anyway. But never before has the Senate simply refused to even consider a Supreme Court nominee.
But then this is a special group of Republicans we have these days. They are all for doing anything, including hurting the country, hurting the economy, hurting our national security, and hurting our citizens if they perceive it will give them a chance for more power.
