An Optimistic View Of The Level Of Republican Disarray

The link below is another fine piece by Talking Point Memo’s Josh Marshall. He talks about the war within the Republican party and how both Trump and Cruz don’t have mainstream party support, but no mainstream party candidate has been able to excite the voters.
I still think Kasich is the most reasonable, intelligent, and experienced candidates to seek Republican nomination in 2016. But like Jon Hunstman last cycle, too many Republicans seem uninterested in true qualifications. The party has become fractured after years of selling lies about the state of the country, the threat of liberals, religious persecution of Christians, and the downfall of white male Americans.
And don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to see Kasich as President of the United States. He is very far right. But I would rather see him than Trump or Cruz.
Republicans created this mess with their out of control spin machine. If Mr. Marshall is correct, they may just have destroyed their own party! And despite wanting to see Democrats back in control, I don’t want them unopposed because I think having to compromise is good for the country. Despite the feeling by many Republicans that compromise is treason.
