Donald Trump continues to amaze us with his scariness. He has said a lot of truly horrifying things. He always appears to be out to try to top the last outrageous remark he made with something even more outrageous.

Now he wants to spread nuclear weapons around the world. He wants to give them to South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

This is perhaps some of the best evidence yet of his complete and total lack of understanding of foreign policy and world security. No sane person wants to see more countries with nuclear weapons. No sane person wants to see more members join the nuclear power club.

He appears completely oblivious to the fact that Japan is a staunchly anti-nuclear weapon country. This stems from the horrors of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki late in World War II.

I’m not sure what he thinks he can accomplish giving nuclear weapons to other countries, even if they’re our friends and allies. I doubt he has any idea what he plans to accomplish.

But it is obvious that the first thing this would accomplish is a widening nuclear arms race. This kind of talk is incredibly reckless. Just like refusing to say he wouldn’t use nuclear weapons on the Middle East or Europe.

It is frightening to our friends and allies and gives our enemies more legitimacy in their development of nuclear arsenals.

He is unfit for foreign policy. He is unfit to be President.
