There is much debate about the intent of the Second Amendment and its true meaning. Many on the pro gun side say that it is there so that people can overthrow the government if it “over reaches.”
I don’t believe that for a minute. It makes no sense, there was not even any hint of that in the Constitution of the Bill of Rights, and it is nonsense. Never mind that it is completely unrealistic. I don’t care what weapons people are buying and adding to their personal arsenals. They are not going to successfully overthrow the United States Government and military. They are not going to fight off tanks, planes, drones, precision guided bombs, and all the other “toys” our military has.
There is no doubt that America is fascinated with the AR-15 style assault rifle. I strongly oppose the ability of regular citizens owning them. But this is an interesting look at the history and story of America’s love affair with the AR-15.
