Republicans like to tell us the end of the world is near because of President Obama’s reckless spending and huge budget deficit. But that is, like so much of the Republican agenda, nothing but an attempt to scare people into helping the wealthy and hurting the poor and middle class.

The good news is that the budget deficit is at it’s lowest since 2007. The worst year, of course, was the last year of the Bush budget and the start of the Bush Great Recession. But Obama has continued to plug away at measures that help grow the economy and shrink the deficit.

So the next time Donald Trump opens his mouth to tell you how horrible the deficit is, remember that it is getting better, not worse. Don’t be fooled by Republican voodoo economics.
