Here is yet another example of Republicans going out of their way to make it harder for people to vote. I guess when you’re an unpopular party, that embraces a candidate that is openly racist and sexist, you have no choice but to suppress people’s ability to vote if you want to keep any power.
It apparently hasn’t occurred to the brain trust of the Republican party that a better approach might be to adopt a more inclusive platform. The Republican party might insure its future success by possibly developing policies that are friendly to more than rich, white, middle class Christians. They might avoid embracing openly racist candidates. They might work to try to make it easier for people to vote and let them know that it is because of their efforts that voting is easier.
But that would require the Republican party to be reasonable and evolve. That doesn’t seem likely to happen in the age of Trump, Cruz, and other right wing extremists that prefer to live in the past.
