Those promises seem like a long, long time ago given his cabinet picks of political insiders and operatives. His secretary of education pick was particularly audacious given that she has absolutely zero experience or degree in education. But she was a big Trump campaign donor, and in the world of US politics, that is what rules the day.

Perhaps the biggest slap to the face yet is his pick of a Goldman Sachs and bank OneWest insider Steve Mnuchin. He comes from a background of predatory lending and big investment banking that helped crash the world economy in 2008.

Most of us knew that Donald Trump was trying to con us. But some of you apparently thought he actually cared and would do things to help the American public. All indications are that he is a typical big money Republican looking to privatize more critical government functions and help the rich get richer.
