Trump Administration Lie Of The Day

I’ve been taking a little break. Keeping up with all the administration’s lies is exhausting. It is an endless task. But sometimes lies jump out at me that require a comment.
Trump Administration EPA head Scott Pruitt has been touting the 50,000 new coal jobs created since Trump took office. Since there are only 50,000 workers performing coal mining jobs in the entire country, this one sticks out badly.
What he is actually referring to is that there have been 50,000 jobs created in “mining” industry. This includes oil and gas operations. To be precise, there have been 47,000 jobs created in the mining and logging category since October 2016.
Some key facts that EPA head Pruitt may want to brush up on are that 75% of these jobs have been created in the oil industry. Why? Because oil prices have stabilized and thus oil workers are headed back to work. Furthermore, this period includes four months under President Obama and four months under President Trump. Breaking the jobs down by President brings us to 1,400 coal mining jobs created the last four months of Obama’s term and 1,000 coal mining jobs created under the Trump Administration.
So Pruitt is off by a factor of 50! And, he’s taking credit for all the job gains when the majority was under Democratic President Barack Obama!
