Seriously, folks. Are you in comas? Trump just threatened Iran, a week after holding a two-hour one-on-one meeting with Soviet dictator Vladimir Putin, days after the Justice Department indicted 12 Russians in great detail for interfering with the 2016 elections to benefit Trump, at the same time every other American government entity agrees Russia is actively engaged in cyber warfare with the United States.
GOP Representatives and Senators, how do you describe un-American activities nowadays? Not a Joseph McCarthy wannabe in your group? Think about it — you could make good on this error. Rewrite history with…FACTS! Do you physically need to be shaken to remember McCarthyism?
Let me save you the Google trip: According to Wikipedia: it’s the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence. The term refers to U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy and has its origins in the period in the United States known as the Second Red Scare, lasting from the late 1940s through the 1950s and characterized by heightened political repression as well as an alleged campaign spreading fear of Communist influence on American institutions and of espionage by Soviet agents.
Look what happened when you didn’t have proper regard for evidence? Can you imagine your favorable ratings if you decided to get equally cranked about the spread of communism when you are swimming in verifiable facts proving the US is compromised by the Soviet Union? At your president’s doing!
