What Happened To Mexico Paying?

Perhaps Republican President Donald Trump thinks we’ve all got amnesia or are stupid. He clearly campaigned on building a wall and having Mexico pay for it. That, of course, was a lie. Most of us knew it at the time.
Mexico has repeatedly said there is no way they will ever pay for the wall. I guess Trump has come to the same conclusion. Because he’s looking for places to cut the budget to pay for the wall. That’s right. They’ve been working on a budget that includes the money for the wall. And it gets it by cutting other government programs. In fact, the current budget draft frees up the money for the wall by cutting other security related budgets.
We don’t need a wall. We can’t afford $25+B for a wall. And we can’t afford to gut the Coast Guard and other areas of national security to pay for it either.
It is positively ignorant to cut funding for programs that protect us from real threats while building a wall to “protect us” from a non-existent threat. I sure hope the Republican congress isn’t stupid enough to go along with any plans to gut the Coast Guard or other national security programs as our President apparently wants to do.
