The NRA’s Gag Law
1February 26, 2013 by Chris Kite
Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a body of unbiased, scientific research that told us who was being killed by guns, why they were being killed, what types of weapons were being used, and how best to reduce gun deaths? The truth is, we were well on our way to having that information when the NRA stepped in and put a full stop to those efforts to try to put a gag on the truth. We can only assume that the reason they did this is that they had a pretty good idea that any research was NOT going to help the gun industry. The gun industry doesn’t want people to know that having a gun in your home increases the risk of someone in that household dying of a gunshot by 300%. They don’t want people to know that having a gun in the house makes it 500% more likely that someone will commit suicide. Imagine if the airline industry or the auto industry stopped efforts to solve problems and reduce deaths. Fortunately that is unlikely because the auto industry and the airline industry would have a huge problem if they tried this. Why? Because their products aren’t designed to kill people. However, the NRA represents the gun industry whose goal is to sell a product to citizens and that product’s primary purpose is to kill people.
The article in the link gives an indication of where this research was going and why it is so important.
This is yet another example of lobbying groups hijacking the American people, our Constitution, and the best interests of our citizens. There is no other way to say it – It is wrong!!!
NOOOOO. The NRA influencing anyone about weapons?! I’m stunned! Not. But really, you just can’t make this stuff up–no sane mind would believe it.
