Chasing Ghosts

Donald Trump’s pick for National Security Adviser is a conspiracy loving right wing nut case that could quite likely harm our country greatly.
I would like to think that one of the first qualifications to be National Security Adviser would be to separate real and fake information and to parse the most relevant information to determine where we should be focusing our efforts. That doesn’t seem likely with Trump’s pick of Michael Flynn.
Flynn has publicized such incredibly fake conspiracy theories as President Obama being a jihadi that laundered money for Muslim terrorists, Hillary Clinton being an insider threat that planned to help the UN create a single world government, and that Hillary Clinton was involved in money laundering and sex crimes.
This would be troubling for any government official. But for a National Security Adviser, it is highly disturbing and completely disqualifying. Of course we all know that Donald Trump loves a good conspiracy theory (millions of illegal votes for Clinton?) so we should not be surprised.
But since our national security infrastructure, while enormous and heavily funded, is not limitless, Flynn’s lack of credibility could really cost us. While security assets are being spent tracking down fake Islamic terrorists infiltrating the Mexican border, chasing fake UN plots to take over the United States, and looking at former President Obama for being a jihadist, there is a very strong risk that legitimate threats would be considered.
We knew Donald Trump would be dangerous and bad for our country. The people he is picking for his cabinet give us an idea just how potentially dangerous.
