You might be feeling a little down about the state of politics in the US. The gridlock, political bickering, and overbearing control corporations and the rich have on this country are probably rightfully causing frustration and perhaps despair. But before you decide voting just doesn’t matter, please consider these facts that I’ll present in a series over the coming days:
Your Government for Sale – Democrat versus Republican
The Republican right has been fighting for some time to turn corporations into people and get big money INTO politics. It makes sense. They don’t fight for workers and the regular guy. They fight for business interests. Democrats also are beholden to big money, but at least a fair number of them fight for things like campaign finance reform. And they are firmly against the Citizens United decision that has and will have such a damaging impact on US politics. While Republicans try to forever up the ante and increase campaign spending, Democrats fight to turn it back to the common person. Corporations are NOT people. Buying candidates is NOT free speech. Corporations DON’T have regligion. Your vote matters!
