A Time For Action

“Now is the time for mourning and healing, but let’s be clear: At some point, we as a country, will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency,”

Thank you, President Obama!

Now I know that conservatives/gun nuts are going to say, “How dare you use a tragedy like this to take a political position on gun control.”

The thing is, it is NOT a political position. It is a common sense position. When airplanes crash, we analyze what happened and take actions to fix the problem. When cars kill people, we analyze what happened and take actions to fix the problem. When people die in fires in buildings, we analyze what happened and take action to fix the problem.

When gun killings happen in America, many shrug and say, “second amendment.”

Two things are very apparent.

We do not have adequate mental healthcare in this country.

Guns are too prevalent and too easy to obtain in this country.
