Fighting Trumpism

If we are to be successful in fighting Trumpism, I think we need to change our approach. Yes, he is absolutely a racist, a sexist, a bully, and an all around horrible person. It is true he does not have the temperament to lead our country and hold the highest office.
But barring an absolute miracle, it is a given that he is going to be our next President. And those arguments about his lack of character or experience did not work to keep in out of office, so they certainly are not going to work to keep him from enacting his plans.
I think we must focus on individual plans and people he is putting into his cabinet.
Let us start with Betsy DeVos as his pick for Secretary of Education. She has no experience in education. She has not served as a teacher or an administrator. She does not have a degree in education. She has no qualification whatsoever.
It would appear that she was selected primarily for her political loyalty to Trump and her massive campaign donations. He said he was going to “drain the swamp.” This is not even close to draining the swamp. This is bringing in yet another political insider with no expertise in the field of education and a complete and total lack of qualification for the job.
We should start our battle with letting our Senators know how we feel about Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.
As he names his cabinet, we need to find the ones that we can fight, not simply on political ideology, but on experience and qualification.
And then we need to fight his plans once they see the light of day and we learn exactly what it is he plans to do. Let’s not be like the Republicans. If he has ideas that we agree with, such as infrastructure spending, we should support them. But when he has ideas we object to, such as lower taxes on the wealthy, we need to fight and fight hard.
