My gun rights friends often proclaim that getting rid of guns won’t stop murders, won’t stop mass shootings, and won’t stop terrorism. That is true. I don’t think any pro-gun control people have ever claimed that.

But what gun control CAN do is decrease the number and severity of these types of incidents. I don’t believe there is anything we can do to completely eliminate terrorism. When someone is willing to die in the act of killing others, it is very difficult to stop that person.

But here is a good example of a terrorist attack in a country that has strict gun control. The attack still happened and it is tragic. Three people were injured, one seriously, but no one has life threatening injuries. No guns were needed to stop the terrorist. People held him off by throwing things at him and verbally abusing him. The police showed up and used a taser to subdue him.

Had this been someone with a small arsenal of guns, high capacity magazines, and many rounds of ammunition, you can bet we would be reading about the deaths from this terrorist act.
